Net Entertainment Signs Supplier Deal with Danish Gaming Government Group
Under the terms of a new agreement, the Swedish online gaming group, Net Entertainment will provide a wide range of casino games to the regulated online gaming market in Denmark through Danske Spil, the government owned group which provides online and land based gaming services to customers in the country. Danske Spil is also part of the World Lottery Association.
According to Per Eriksson, the president and chief executive officer of Net Entertainment, his company was among the first to supply online casino games on the regulated Danish online gaming market in 2012.
“I am very pleased about this partnership as we continue our expansion in the strategic WLA channel,” he said. “I am confident that Danske Spil will strengthen its leading position when introducing NetEnt’s portfolio of world class thrilling games.”
Founded in 1948, Danske Spil only offered one product – football betting – until 1989. However, changes in the Danish gambling regime saw the company introduce lottery services. In 1992, Danske Spil’s first scratch card, Quick was introduced, followed by a sports betting product, Oddset, two years later. The most significant changes in Denmark’s gambling laws came in 2010, where the government allowed partial liberalization, and thus the issuing of licenses to operators to offer sports and online gambling products to local players.
Net Entertainment is listed on the Stockholm stock exchange and employs hundreds of people around the world.
